As we continue to use Brendle Group as a test case for new ideas, we’ve applied the concepts of Net Zero Water – using only as much water as we can capture, generate, or re-use on site – to develop a goal for water neutrality by 2020. Using guidance from the Water Footprint Network’s Water Footprint Assessment Manual, we determined the water footprint of Brendle Group’s direct operations including:
(1) water consumed within our building and for landscape irrigation; and
(2) the water quality impacts of stormwater runoff from the site.
From there, we developed a game plan to reach Net Zero Water – a methodology that we’re applying not only to a business but also to college and university campuses and cities.
