Energy Savings for Schools
The Colorado Energy Office’s (CEO’s) Energy Savings for Schools Program (ESS) provides technical resources for Colorado school districts and includes:
- Free capacity building with technical support and energy and water coaching
- Free customized Resource Management Plan that identifies priorities and activities, helps gain district buy-in, and creates a culture of conservation
- Free energy monitoring equipment and coaching to track electricity use in real time on a web-based dashboard
- Free hands-on resources for engaging students, including printable educational materials and learning activities
- Free recognition opportunities and connections to peer districts

Eligibility
To be eligible for the ESS Program, a district must:
- Receive state funding
- Have at least three schools in the district
Below are some additional factors for consideration to determine if the ESS program is the right fit:
- Status as rural and/or a high percentage of low-income students
- Clear program champions and district commitment
- Demonstrated ability to implement program elements
- Ability to provide at least 12 months of utility data (water, electricity, natural gas, or propane)
- Previous participation in ESS, energy audits, or facility upgrades
