Poudre School District Sustainable Design Guidelines

Creating Healthy, Green, and Productive Schools

Brendle Group developed Poudre School District's Sustainable Design Guidelines for constructing new facilities and renovating existing structures. The Guidelines address a wide range of issues related to high performance buildings and green schools, including energy and water efficiency, site design, and student health and productivity. As a result, several of the District’s schools have received awards and national recognition for their leadership in sustainable design.

After completing the Guidelines, Brendle Group facilitated Poudre School District staff to develop a Sustainability Management System (SMS) to elevate the District’s overall sustainability performance beyond its buildings. Brendle Group conducted detailed interviews with staff across disciplines to determine baseline sustainability efforts and identify and develop opportunities for advancing sustainability. The SMS sets goals and offers guidance to measure success and achieve these goals – including greenhouse gas reduction, resource conservation, transportation, and curriculum.
