Engineering Sustainable Change

Committed to our Community

Brendle Group Habitat For Humanity Build  Brendle Group was created in the basement of President Judy Dorsey’s home in 1996. Eighteen years and over 200 projects later, our firm is now headquartered in the heart of Fort Collins, Colorado. With great support from our community, Brendle Group is now an nationally recognized firm working on sustainability plans and projects nationwide. And although our work continues to extend beyond Colorado, we remain firmly rooted in, and committed to, our community and region of Northern Colorado.

Just as we use our LEED Gold-certified headquarters to “walk the sustainable walk,” our team is deeply committed to learning from, and contributing to, our neighbors both inside and outside of office hours. Our internal “Team CAOS” – Community and Organizational Sustainability – supports the community with in-kind donations of technical support as well as targeted financial contributions. Team CAOS has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity builds and wildfire land restoration, and each year we donate free services to non-profit organizations that lack the in-house expertise or resources to get started with sustainability.

Outside of the office, many of us here at Brendle Group moonlight as board members and volunteers throughout our Northern Colorado community. Take a look at some of the organization’s we’re involved with:

Louisville Fire Department

Cullen Choi LFDThe men and women of the Louisville Fire Department are proud to be an active part of the community and to provide quality emergency services. They strongly believe that delivering reliable services have a direct effect on our community’s quality of life.

Inspired by the great first response care that his father received years ago, Senior Engineer, Cullen Choi, serves as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Louisville Fire Department. Cullen wanted to support his community by providing the same service to his community that he knows his family can rely on.

Cullen also serves on the City of Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board. The Sustainability Advisory Board identifies opportunities for sustainability practices and resource conservation throughout the City and advises City Council on such matters.

 Trees, Water, & People

Trees, Water, & People (TWP) is a Fort Collins-based conservation organization working with local communities on Native Lands in the United States and in Latin America to improve people’s lives by helping communities protect, conserve, and manage the natural resources upon which their long-term well-being depends.

Patrick Flynn, Sustainability Analyst, began volunteering for TWP while he was an undergraduate student at Colorado State University. He has since been heavily involved with the non-profit in many capacities including serving as program manager in Central America, Assistant International Director, and now as a member of TWP’s board of directors.

Patrick also serves as a board member for the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW). The new Fort Collins-based watershed protection group is supported by Larimer County, the City of Greeley, City of Fort Collins, and multiple conservation organizations to pursue a mission of improving the ecological health of the Poudre River watershed through collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders.

Colorado WaterWise

Becky (1) Colorado WaterWise (CWW) provides resources to the Colorado water conservation community, including a forum to share ideas on successful programs, technical analysis tools, access to regional water efficiency experts and state officials, professional networking, and educational opportunities. The organization connects stakeholders that are invested in water efficiency in Colorado to foster integration and innovation in education and technology.

Brendle Group’s, Water Practice Leader, Becky Fedak, serves on CWW’s Board of Directors. Encouraged by the opportunity to serve with the primary water conservation resource for professionals in Colorado, Becky joined the board to help CWW promote the efficient use of water throughout Colorado.

Becky also serves as a technical/operations advisor for Running Water International (RWI), a non-profit organization born out of her graduate school program at Colorado State University. RWI uses an enterprise model to bring open source technologies to people affected by the global water challenge through the manufacture, sale, and maintenance of a variety of water and sanitation products.

Colorado State University, College of Engineering

The College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Board is designed to advise and assist the Dean in the development and advancement of college programs. Board members provide counsel in determining strategic directions for the college, and provide assistance in implementing the resulting strategic plan.

As a proponent of continued education – and an alumnus from the College’s Graduate program – Judy Dorsey serves on Colorado University’s College of Engineering Advisory Board. Judy is passionate about supporting students and ensuring they graduate from college with the necessary tools to thrive in the workforce.

Judy also founded the C3E initiative – Clean Energy, Education, and Empowerment – an initiative that will grow and support women professionals in the cleantech industry.
